Sharing through Facebook Pages and Groups

Something I really love! and have seen lots of people using is 'LDS quotes' they have beautiful photos or pictures with quotes from General conference or church figures. I really like them they are cute and fun to share. To find some good   Quotes to share there are some good Facebook pages that share them daily so that you can share them with your friends. Few I sort out are creative LDS quotes, LDS SHARE, LDS members from around the world, Mormon channel and the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all do really good LDS quotes.

My mum along with my youngest sister who is 12 decided to print of a few of these quotes to put on my sisters wall to help give her a pick up and encouragement every morning and as a fun way of sharing the gospel with her through pretty pictures and short quotations. She also decided to print and laminate some to send to my sister whilst  she is on her mission to help her and her investigators. 

Facebook pages and groups linked to the church such as mormon.org and the the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are prime locations for gospel discussions from members and non members. These are great places to share your testimony or to answer questions and correct misconceptions that some people may have. It is entirely up to you how involved you want to be but you never know the effect a simple comment can have on another person. 

Through out my mission and after I have heard of stories of people researching into the church simple because a friend liked a LDS page or posted a Mormon message, if we have a desire to share the gospel The Lord will help us in this cause.

Facebook and Foreign languages

So This week I finally was able to go out with the missionaries in my ward since being back from my mission. I was pretty excited to meet this male investigator that they were working with and try and help him with his Faith in Jesus Christ. The Elders weren't having a huge amount of luck that day and we lucked out again as we realised standing at his front door that nobody was in. The evening got more and more interesting as it went along and found ourselves in a sticky situation trying to get a drunk woman in her 70's to stop giving away her money and to get her into a taxi safely home. Not as easy as we thought it would be and I ended up having to take all the hugs and kisses she wanted to give to the Elders! Brought back lots of hilarious and sometimes frustrating memories of the day to day challenges faced as a missionary. I was quite happily amused by things now that I was simply the member and not the one being 'Flogged.'

Well eventually we were able to teach one of their investigators who was new to England and spoke very little of our language, despite these challenges her enthusiasm stuck and the persistency of the Elders got us through the lesson. This also involved my boyfriend and I frantically typing sentences into Google translate to try and translate words such as Sin and prophet and invitations such as will you read the Book of Mormon? so that she could understand in her own language.

As apart of my calling as a missionary I was very involved with using the media as a source of finding and teaching using Mormom.org, Facebook, Skype and email we were able to communicate with people ready to hear the gospel all over the world. Now being home it got me thinking about how as a member I could cultivate these skills I have learned as a missionary and use them in my personal missionary work as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. This is partly why I decided to create this blog and a Facebook group namely 'every member an online missionary' to help members to be more aware of the variety of ways available to share the gospel.

When I got home from an eventful evening with the Elders I added their investigator on Facebook and got to work translating a conclusion of what was taught using Google translate and sent it to her in a Facebook message I also linked her to a Mormon Message that talked more about the Book of Mormon and could be set to captions in Polish for her to understand. She was grateful for this and told me she understood what it meant and was excited to watch the video.

This took what a whole 5-10 minutes of my time yet the possible impact it might have on her being able to accept the gospel surely is worth the time and more. Missionary work really does not need to be hard and it can be creative also! this is just one little idea that can help the missionary work to go forward.
